No livestock at this Farmhouse!

Kim and David Leggett have worn a series of successful hats in the Antique/ Vintage and Folk Art business for many years. Their newest venture, The City Farmhouse in Franklin, Tennessee has taken the market by storm. By combining Industrial, Vintage, Folk Art, Rustic Design, Scandinavian and French inspired elegance, they have attracted young, old, traditional and cutting edge customers with their unique look. David adds his own take to their ever changing gallery by executing lighting sourced from found objects. His creations have made their way from Tennessee to the sets of design titans Ralph Lauren, Thomas Moser and other A-List clients. Kim still tries to convince people that she's actually shy, but after a few minutes, everyone knows better. Please stop by their booth in the Vintage Marketplace to ask about their grandchildren Lila and Riley, who are top antique dealers in training.

Meet Annie with Grace and Corazon

Annie de Jongh
Modern Day Hunter/Gatherer & Vendor
Annie's website: Grace and Corazon

I'm the oldest of 3, a mom, a wife, a friend, a sister, a daughter...I love old things, and rusty things, and things in need of rescue...I guess I'm a modern day hunter-gatherer. I'm inspired by what has been pushed aside and forgotten, pieces with history and the well worn. I'd rather be at a garage sale, thrift store, or auction pawing through junk to find my next inspiration than anywhere else. With my jewelry I hope to do many things including create soulful pieces, add whimsy and bring the past into the present. Most of my pieces are created with antique European medals, upcycled leather and semi-precious stones. Hopefully with my intent Grace & Corazon brings an eclectic line of jewelry that is quirky and fun rather than serious and predictable! I truly love what I do, and hope you will too!

C’est Fantastique. C’est Moi and Annie Sloan Chalk Paints

And the news about the Vintage Marketplace just keeps on getting better. I think it’s safe to assume that most of our readers know about Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. If not, you really have to do a search on it or, better yet, just ask your friends who love Vintage. So here’s the exciting news: Tawnya Norton, of C’est Moi, in Brentwood, TN shopcestmoi.blogspot.com is not only going to be a vendor at the Vintage Marketplace, she’s bringing Annie Sloan Chalk Paints and will be doing demos during the show. But wait… There’s one more surprise. The VintageMarketplace will hold a drawing for a ticket to Annie Sloan’s one-day-only, Nashville workshop on March 26th. Nashville is one of only eight locations in the U.S. in which Annie will conduct her, “Annie Sloan Unfolded" workshops. This will be a full day with Annie Sloan, in person, beginning with a two hour lecture and demo followed by a breakout session with hands on painting. We want to thank Tawnya for her generous donation of this ticket, valued at $350. Stop by C’est Moi’s booth at the Vintage Marketplace this February 2-4, to meet Tawnya, pick up your Annie Sloan Paints and register to win this amazing opportunity to spend a day learning directly from Annie Sloan.

Birds Gotta Fly...South, to Nashville

I’ve been in contact with Judith Mercado, BloomsburyLoft.blogspot.com , several times over the past few weeks and I’ve enjoyed getting to know a bit about her. Like all of us, she’s excited about the upcoming Vintage Marketplace and she’s working hard to get ready for the show.
Judith has been in the Vintage business for twelve years. She’s schooled in jewelry design, has been an interior designer by trade and was formerly employed as a Visual Merchandiser for several major department stores. She is, however, at heart an artistic, free spirit and, you know what they say…birds gotta fly. So, she went out, on her own, and started her retail business, Bloomsbury Loft. She loves the creative freedom and independence of being self employed and has never looked back. In a recent email this is how she described her unique perspective and creative approach to Vintage.
“My merchandise is a mix of fine handmades like jewelry, pillows, wreaths made using repurposed knits and wall decor with vintage furniture and trendy finds. My handmades are made using old and new materials. My aesthetics of choice are layers of patterns and contrast of light and dark colors dancing together. When designing linens I love mixing geometric patterns, vintage florals and oversized graphics. My jewelry line is romantic but edgy and when choosing vintage pieces and found objects I am drawn by a mix of industrial and classic furniture, but also incorporating bits of traditional antiques. In other words my style is defined by the perfect imperfection, unmatched, comfortable and fresh!”.
Can’t wait to see what she comes up with for the premier of the Vintage Marketplace. Just 15 days left to wait!
