Sue Whitney of JUNKMARKET and JUNKMARKET Style is the nation’s industry leader in “junk” style. What is “junk” style? It is the combination of roadside acquisitions, flea market finds, vintage for 400 please, and antiquities all wrapped up in one very stylish, affordable, green, and user friendly lifestyle package. The world is ever changing…JUNKMARKET stays abreast of those changes and offers fresh, innovative, and approachable concepts for you and your home. From the beginning (over thirteen years ago) the original JUNKMASTER had a vision: to pursue her passion and share it with others. That’s something she will never transform.

A Royal Nest

The mother & daughter team known as A Royal Nest have owned three ‘brick & mortar’ vintage shops and are accustomed to offering quite a large variety of styles & items for the vintage buyer. They combine rustic with cottage- to ‘girly’ Victorian (and everything in between).
Gloria (mom) has been a published artist for 18 years, painting & designing for reproduction companies. She is a mixed media artist, who, at present is specializing in ‘repurposed’ vintage, wearable art, jewelry & accessories, one of a kind display pieces, & artistic collectibles, including gothic Halloween. More information on Gloria’s art can be found on her blog by clicking here.
Amy (daughter) is an artist, designer, home stylist, and admirer of vintage and unusual items. She enjoys buying unique items for resale and specializes in cottage, French, Steampunk, and designs with a ‘European’ flair. “The ‘thrill of the hunt’ and shopping for the unusual is my favorite part of the job”, says Amy. She also enjoys painting, repurposing, and altering vintage pieces to be used in the home. Amy’s designs are often inspired by her love of nature. From owning vintage shops, doing specialty art shows, or designing and styling homes, Gloria & Amy have been involved in almost every aspect of the vintage & art worlds. They have been painting, creating, & repurposing in preparation of the Vintage Marketplace and are very excited to offer their unique items at the May show. Visit their blog for updates of what they are preparing for the show http://aroyalnest.blogspot.com

Vintage Marketpace Welcomes Old World New Home!

Carlene Crist and her daughter, Betsy co-owners of Old World New Home are bringing their wares to Vintage Marketplace this May. This is very exciting news for everyone!!

These two ladies have a special gift for pulling together all things shabby and all things chic. From furniture and home accessories to vintage women’s clothing and jewelry.

Chandeliers, reproduction skeleton keys, candles by Scentsible Scents (hand-poured by a woman in Brookville, Ohio), and soaps made with herbs from Carlene's garden round out their eclectic offerings.

The tie that binds all Old World New Home’s merchandise is an antique or vintage appearance, despite the fact that some of the tables and votives are new. They will have on hand furniture that Carlene has restored. Fun fact....30 years ago she converted an antique buffet into a changing table for her twin sons, and today one of the shop’s most popular items are buffets being used for the same purpose! Timeless treasures and ideas!!!

This mother/daughter team work VERY well together! The pair have been working side by side since they manned a booth together at the Springfield Antique Extravaganza in September 2009. We are delighted to have them as part of the all new Vintage Marketplace inside the Springfield Extravaganza!

Kathy and Terri of Nostalgia's Cottage are Gearing Up for Vintage Marketplace!

Please meet Kathy…She's a junkaholic - an old line, but so true (if you checked out her basement you’d know!)!!  She is the “blonde” half of “Nostalgia’s Cottage”, with her friend, Terri Osborne.

Her mom (a single mom of 5) has always been a collector of garage sale knick-knacks and and is a firm believer of “making do” with what can be found on a very tight budget. Kathy has definitely inherited that gene!  She claims to not remember when it all started. What she does remember is as a child always begging for old things from her grandma, collecting rocks, and Avon bottles. Now there's a combo!! From there she just kept going! She refinished her first piece of furniture when she was 18....the rest is history!!

Together, Terri and Kathy scour garage sales, thrift stores, fleamarkets, barns…or almost anywhere to find “treasures”.... and sometimes trash. Everyone needs a little trash in their life! They recreate/repurpose their finds into one-of-a-kind jewelry, collages, assemblage, furniture, and home and garden décor. They are always looking for a new way to “change it up”!

The duo has sold at Springfield for about 9 years, and have enjoyed each and every show. They have a blast together, and have made many friends over the years....customers and vendors alike. According to Kathy, junk is truly a friend magnet.

For Kathy and Terri it is the love of all things old, memories of the past, and being able to bring new life to a piece that keeps them going and going AND GOING!

The $$$ they have made selling their wares has financed annual girls' summer "junkets" along the World's Longest Yard Sale trail...and other exciting places. They plan on hitting the great state of Michigan this summer!!  So you see, it is a vicious circle of treasure hunting for themselves and their customers!

They sell at other shows throughout the year and together we have had absolutely the most junk fun at JUNKMARKET Style shows, the Country Living Fair in Ohio...and then there was that little trip to Oronoco...oh my gosh!!! What happens in Oronoco stays in Oronoco!

We are delighted that Kathy and Terri will be dealers in the inaugural Vintage Marketplace at the Springfield Extravaganza.  Every time they set up for a show, they joke that “this is going to be their best booth ever”! I'm sure it will be …so stop by and see! I understand their basements, lofts, and storage units are already starting to overflow with vintage junk goodness!!

Kathy is a past contributor of JUNKMARKETStyle - http://www.junkmarketstyle.com/profile/shabbychick

Check out Kathy's blog. It's named after her mother, Sylvia...because she is…after all – SylviaS VintagE DaughteR -  www.sylviasdaughter.blogspot.com

Vintage Marketplace Welcomes Ericka Cady

Allow us to introduce Ericka Cady...jeweler extraodinaire! Ericka first started designing jewelry over 10 years ago. She began by collecting vintage jewelry from antique shows and "changing them up".  She didn't want the same vintage look as everyone else....she was after unique.  Ericka's office co-workers requests and strangers raving over her jewelry inspired her to start re-designing vintage pieces on a regular basis.

As with any obsession, she quickly became a hoarder of vintage jewelry. I think we all know the feeling!! Antique shows, home jewelry parties, gift giving and custom orders have made her obsession a full time job.  Now her daughters, ages 10 and 11, are interested in the family business...even if only for the sparkly rhinestones and long dangling earrings.Ya gotta hook 'em in early!

Getting the younger generation interested in their inherited, dusty jewelry box from grandma is what motivates her.  Ericka was unable to inherit her own grandmother's extensive costume jewelry collection, so she had to create her own treasure chest of baubles. She now reaps the rewards by making a new family heirloom for someone else when they purchas her stunning recycled creations.

Ericka will be under the cover of the big white tents at Vintage Marketplace. Stop by, meet Ericka, and take home an heirloom of your own! To learn a little more about this charming and uber talented young lady...visit her blog and Etsy shop.

Before you go...take a look at some of the beautiful baubles by Ericka! With each dealer profile I do I get more excited for May. How about you...are you with me?? See ya soon!

Introducing the Priates of Salvaged to Sassy!

Some call it junk, others trash ~ but Lesa & Chuck Smith of Salvaged to Sassy call it fabulous!  Together, they are passionate pirates on a never-ending treasure hunt. They love following their maps of flea markets, garage sales and auctions in search of rusty gold.  Arrgh!!
Chuck’s keen vision and muscle combines with Lesa’s creative magic resulting in swoon~worthy pieces of adored before old windows, dressers, doors and more. If you ask them to define “vintage,” they will tell you it means “to connect.” Connecting with the history and past of a piece and then sharing that connection with others is what it is all about at Salvaged to
Sassy. If you are ever lucky enough to visit the beautiful mountains of West Virginia, stop by and visit their booth at Somewhere in Time Antique Mall in Nitro or check them out on facebook or the web, www.salvagedtosassy.weebly.com

The Vintage Farmhouse Headed to Vintage Marketplace

Nicki grew up spending summers at the home of her Dad's boss. The boss's wife decorated with a white palette, french provincial furniture, and tons of pretty crystals. She was an AMAZING woman! She played cards, smoked a pipe (yes indeed!), and never let shoes be worn in the house on her white carpet. She did however... always have a fresh homemade cake on hand along with a pitcher of sweet tea. Memories of this wonderful woman and her impeccable taste in home decor stuck with Nicki throughout her childhood years and on into adulthood. Today, these memories are Nicki's inspiration. Nicki has what she refers to as a "barely there budget". I think we all know that feeling! This has taught Nicki how to work with what she has to make things beautiful. She is a believer that decorating doesn't have to be expensive or scary! Re-purpose, re-use and have fun! I think that is a fabulous motto!

Please help us welcome Nicki Winkles from The Vintage Farmhouse to Vintage Marketplace in Springfield, Ohio. I know I am very excited to see what this lovely woman has in store and I bet you are too! Make sure to stop by and say hello to Nicki. To learn more about nicki and The Vintage Farmhouse visit her at www.thevintagefarmhouse.com or on FB! Take a look atthe lovely images below. Pictures sometime speak louder than words!!
