JunqueMagnet- aka Carrie Murphy

Wow! Our numbers are really growing for the Vintage Marketplace at the Springfield Extravaganza this May. Everyone we’ve talked about it with is excited. That includes Carrie Murphy of JunqueMagnet. She’s a super busy soccer mom who says she can always make time during her hectic days to “pick” a yard sale or root through a good pile of junk. Earlier this month she traveled from her home in southwestern Ohio to Hendersonville, TN to shop the debut of the Vintage Marketplace at the Tailgate-Music Valley Antiques show. Of course, she loved the show and has turned in her contract to join us in May at the Extravaganza.
We talked for a while about how blogging can impact and direct style. Carrie believes that “the blogging community is a really amazing thing. The sharing of ideas and information is incredible. This is the way you get ‘twenty to thirty somethings’ out of the shopping malls and show them how to combine disparate items in decorating. It’s the art of creating a scene you can put yourself into. The ‘twenty to thirty somethings’ get it”. For Carrie blogging is way to talk about what she does and share her unique style. She believes it’s a way to grow and connected with like minded people. Can’t wait to see her booth at the Vintage Marketplace.

Tricia LeTempt is on board!

Wow! Our ranks are growing and the word is spreading. The Vintage Marketplace, at the May Springfield Extravaganza is gonna to be a party! And we’re so glad that Tricia LeTempt of The Red Door Antiques will be joining us. She always loved the Springfield Antiques Show & Flea Market and has been a frequent shopper but when she heard about our Vintage Marketplace section in this May’s Extravaganza, she knew she had to be part of it.

Tricia’s a long established antiques dealer who specializes in country, industrial, garden and farmhouse. She says she has a love for things that are “strange, unusual and quirky”. Many of you may have met her on the road, doing shows from New England to Texas and point in between. Of course, you may also have visited her at The Red Door, her “little” 7,000 square foot shop in Eddyville, KY. If by chance you still aren’t familiar with Tricia, you need to pick up this month’s Country Living magazine, because her darning knobs are featured in an article on collecting. Congratulations Tricia!

Tricia’s excited about the Vintage Marketplace because she’s convinced that “Repurposed is where it’s at. It’s do-able in every price range and there’s something for everyone. It’s not about the $5,000. piece of furniture”. She summed up her thought by telling me that “Repurposed puts a whole new light on the antiques business”, and I couldn’t agree more.

"Count me in."

That’s the first thing Jackie Lines of Shambora Studio, shamborastudios.blogspot.com told me when I mentioned our upcoming Vintage Marketplace at the Springfield Extravaganza this May. She was thrilled, as we all were, with the success of our Vintage Marketplace at last month’s Tailgate-Music Valley Antique Show held at the Hendersonville Expo Center in Tennessee. In a word , she described the show as “fun”, and it really was. She loved the camaraderie and networking that took place with other artists both before and during the show. She and I were amazed that even though each booth had its own unique atmosphere, they all worked together to create a truly fresh and beautiful show. And Jackie reported strong sales, several of which were to shop owners who wanted to bring that fresh, updated look into their own shops. She felt the show got a great response from customers; that they understood they could work vintage pieces into any décor.
Jackie summed up the Vintage Marketplace by saying, “people were happy, everyone was smiling and having a good time”. Ahhh, that’s music to a show promoter’s ears.

Welcome to the Vintage Marketplace in Springfield!

After an INCREDIBLY successful debut in Nashville, the Vintage Marketplace will be coming to the Springfield Antique Show & Flea Market’s May Extravaganza. On the cutting edge of Vintage, Art, Design & Antiques; this select group of exhibitors will inspire the next generation of enthusiasts with their unique style, energy and determination to share what they love.
The Vintage Marketplace will occupy series of walled and tented spaces in the center hub of the show (the area between the main buildings) and will be divided with fabric walls, giving each exhibitor the effect of their own creative space. The Springfield Extravaganza is a long running tradition and features nearly 2000 dealers and 20,000 customers each May and September.
Sue Whitney, author of the Junk Beautiful Series, contributor to Better Homes and Gardens/Country Gardens and creator of JunkMarket Style will join us again as our authority on all things vintage, junk and cool. We will be busy creating content for the Vintage Marketplace including talks, hands-on workshops and even a party to kick back and relax.
We have created a new blog for the show which will feature show news, exhibitor bios and information for customers and dealers. Look for our promotional efforts to begin immediately in trade papers, Facebook, Twitter and Blogger.
We look forward to bringing the Vintage Marketplace to the Springfield Extravaganza. For information on participating as a vendor, please email JonJIndpls@aol.com or calling 317-431-0118. Limited space is available, so book promptly to not miss out on the exciting new component at the May Extravaganza.
